Where did the name of your studio come from?
Good Juju Ink, is a play on the expression good juju aka good vibes. Juju is Juliana’s childhood nickname, so Good Juju Ink represents her identity as an illustrator and her devotion to spreading positivity through sending thoughtful handwritten notes. The third element is that 5% of each sale is donated to the nature conservancy, so our customers spread good juju with every purchase.

Who is on your team, and how did you come together?
Good Juju began with Juliana’s quest to bring illustrated joy to grown ups. Her husband, Ryan, joined shortly after Juliana launched her Etsy store in 2014 soon after he graduated from business school. About six months later Ryan’s business school classmate, Marina Lieban, became a partner. It’s been threes company ever since.

How did you get into design and letterpress printing?
Valentine’s Day 2014 I, Juliana, was in the card section of Urban Outfitters for ages chuckling, and it dawned on me that I should examine this obsession more closely. I was transitioning from being a full-time choreographer, and wanted to get back to my love of drawing and the written word. It struck me that greeting cards combined both of those things. I contacted the company that designed the card that was making me chuckle, Fat Bunny Press, and spoke with the designer and she generously offered to mentor me as I made the leap into the world of designing greeting cards.
