Anemone Letterpress
Carrie Howe Hersom has a fun and vibrant aesthetic, likely influenced by her Southern California locale. She said this card was in her mind for ages and she finally put it to paper recently. I love the playful little monster. She creates unique cards full of color and life. I’m so thrilled to share another of her cards with our subscribers.

Where did the name of your studio come from?
When I started in 2007, I was under a deadline to pick a name because I wanted to do an upcoming craft show. I had always loved anemones (the flower and the sea critter), and I thought if most people didn’t know one, they’d know the other. Interestingly, some didn’t know either and getting them to pronounce the name correctly has been a bit of a quirky challenge.

Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
Oh, just about everywhere, but not all the time. I keep notes on my phone, scribbled bits on little scraps of paper in the office, at the shop, in the car. It can be a little messy ;-).

What kind of press(es) do you use?
I have a Vandercook SP-15 and two Heidelberg Platen Presses, aka Heidelberg Windmills. I love printing on the Vandercook, but it just doesn’t make sense for me to do production runs on it. It’s much better for smaller runs and proofing. All larger runs are done on one of our Windmills.

Which press was used to print the Nicely Noted cards?
Heidelberg Windmill.
